5.0 out of 5 stars Incredibly quiet, very fast, and easily expandable

Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 8, 2023

processor_description: Intel Core i7-12700operating_system: Windows 11 ProVerified Purchase

I bought this to replace an ancient Dell Vostro 410 Core 2 Quad that came with Windows Vista but was running Windows 7 Ultimate. The first thing I noticed is how incredibly quiet this computer is compared to my previous one. It is almost silent. It is also much more compact, but still has plenty of room for expansion. I'm perfectly happy with the onboard video and I'm using it to drive a 30" 2560 x 1600 through a DisplayPort to DVI Dual Link adapter and a 20" monitor directly through an HDMI to DVI cable. Should I choose to use the computer for gaming someday, there's an available expansion slot for a modern video card, unused power connectors ready to go, and a 300W power supply built-in. There's also a second expansion slot that's more than adequate for a peripheral card. The 16 GB of RAM it came with only uses one of the two memory slots, so I spent about $45 to add a Crucial 16 GB DIMM (part number CT16G4DFRA32A), bringing the total up to 32 GB. I'm not sure what a previous reviewer was talking about when they wrote that it uses proprietary memory, which couldn't be further from the truth. If I ever need more RAM, the system supports 64 GB. The internal 512 GB SSD is more than adequate for my current needs but could be replaced easily. There's also a spot to mount a 3.5" internal hard drive which I'm using with a 2.5" adapter sled to hold an SSD I had in an old laptop. All the cabling I needed was inside and ready to go. The computer is also lightning-fast. Did I mention how quiet and compact it is? I guess I still can't get over that. Having a DVD+RW drive is great for ripping CDs and being able to read and write other legacy media. Windows 11 Pro also seems to be quite stable and I like it a lot more than Windows 10 -- none of those annoying animated tiles on the Start menu that I was always too lazy to hide but never used. The shipping was lightning fast and I had the computer the day after I ordered it. It also came inside of an outer box, adding some extra protection during shipping. To me the only downside was the price -- I was always used to spending well under $750 for my desktop computers, and this was more than that, but it seemed a great value compared to the configurations I could purchase directly from Dell, so I still consider it a win.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Computer But It's Not Complete

Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on February 25, 2023

I love this PC tower. Plug and play, it's quiet, I love that it has a DVD drive (though I doubt I'll use it), and it's beefy (lots of memory), BUT... first, the mouse and keyboard supplied are super basic junk. Don't bother, Dell. Second, if you want to use it with two monitors (like most people), you will need to purchase a Display Port to HDMI adapter (ten bucks on Amazon). Otherwise, you're out of luck and there's nowhere to find an easy explanation and advice for that. Finally, when you want to contact Dell customer service, you're routed to something called JustAnswer, which charges one dollar to answer your question. After spending $740 for the PC and giving away the cheap keyboard and mouse, I have had to spend another $11 for the right adapter and a phone call. Kind of crazy. Do better, Dell.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good desktop & great price

Not a gaming computer, but was a Black Friday special, and a rock-solid solution for my wife’s office. Windows 11 Pro has been good so far, but I can’t hold Dell accountable for Windows;-). Dell has developed some nice apps to keep it running well, so kudos to that. I did notice a few of my drivers had to be downloaded in order to bring my new computer up to snuff. Something I didn’t expect for a new computer.
