Although some XPS 13
models are marketed toward Linux users, it is worth noting that audio in this
device requires the installation of nonfree/binary firmware so audio will not
work on certain GNU/Linux distributions.
Hardly recommends this model on those grounds alone.
Pros:
- Small
- I believe the drive and battery are technically removable (not soldered to
the motherboard) though tools are required.
Cons:
- Poor cost-performance ratio
- Binary firmware
- Overheats constantly - Should not be called a "laptop" since use on a lap causes overheating by blocking airflow.
- Flimsy build quality
- All the usual complaints about the Intel Management Engine backdoor etc.
